Happy Monday!

Okay real talk this week snuck up on me fast. Between school drop off, a million errands, and trying to keep everybody fed and happy, I almost forgot it was already Monday.

But then I started putting this newsletter together and remembered why I love doing this so much. This town genuinely has so much going on and honestly, some of my favorite childhood memories happened at the exact same places I'm about to tell you about.

There is nothing better than watching your kids fall in love with the same town you grew up loving. So here's what's happening in Lodi this week — let's make some memories! 💛

Bracelets of Hope: How One Lodi Teen Is Turning Survival Into Service

When Olivia Brown faced a pediatric brain tumor diagnosis, she experienced firsthand what it feels like to be a patient staring down something terrifying, the uncertainty, the long hours in treatment centers, the moments when hope feels just out of reach. What she did with that experience is what sets her apart.

Rather than simply move on after surviving, Olivia channeled everything she'd been through into something for others. She founded Olivia's Golden Hope Project, a Lodi-based nonprofit with a mission that is as straightforward as it is powerful: bring comfort, hope, and encouragement to individuals facing serious medical challenges.

The heart of the project is the Bracelet of Hope, handmade from embroidery floss by volunteers of all ages, and assembled into care packages that are then delivered to patients in hospitals and treatment centers. Each bracelet carries a quiet but unmistakable message: someone who doesn't know you is rooting for you anyway.

Olivia's work is getting a well-deserved moment in the spotlight this month as part of Love Lodi Day on Saturday, April 25, our city's beloved annual day of service, now in its 11th year. Her project at 1510 W. Century Blvd. is one of 32 volunteer opportunities across Lodi that day, and organizers are looking for 20 volunteers to help braid bracelets and organize donated items for care packages.

To sign up for Olivia's Golden Hope Project or any of the 30+ Love Lodi Day projects, visit lovelodi.org/projects. The day kicks off at 8 a.m. at Hutchins Street Square, with all projects wrapping by noon for a free Community Picnic & Nonprofit Fair.

What’s Tasty? 😋

Did you hear that we have a Speakeasy in town? Technically, it’s in Woodbridge but to any Lodi local, Lodi and Woodbridge are like conjoined twins.

Anyways, The Exchange 1884 recently redid their menu and added a secret Speakeasy behind a red door that tends to open Saturday nights from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am. Each week though, the code word to get in changes so you’ll have to keep a lookout for it on their instagram.

Cocktail attire is also a must if you want to get inside so be sure to dress your finest. Music starts late, the lights stay low, and it’s definitely a “if you know, you know” sort of thing.
