Lodi Locals
Good morning, Lodi. Fun fact: Lodi is home to some of the oldest Zinfandel vines in the world, some planted back in the 1880s. So yes, the wine here has been around longer than most countries' flags have been through a redesign.
In today's Lodi Locals:
A speakeasy with an actual secret code word
Five Window dedicating their whole Saturday to Daniel Bryant
Trail Coffee got bigger (and better)
Summer camp spots are open and some close sooner than you think
Let's get into it. — Kylie Talamantez
Events

Red Door Speakeasy | Friday, April 11 | 9:00 pm to Midnight
The Exchange 1874 is doing a speakeasy night and there's actually a code word to get in. They'll drop it on their Instagram story before the event, so watch for that. The RG3 Trio is playing live jazz, cocktail attire is required, and it runs until midnight. (This is the kind of night where you show up not knowing anyone and leave with a story.)
📍 The Exchange 1874, 18961 N Lower Sacramento Rd, Lodi, CA

A Celebration of Life | Saturday, April 11 | 11:00 am to 11:00 pm
Five Window Beer Co. is holding a Celebration of Life for Daniel Bryant this Saturday. Live music from Saving Seattle, merch by Josh Barrington, and a beer garden open from 11 to 11. Every single pint sold puts $1 toward the Lucy Fund, and 100% of merch sales go there too. All donations go directly into a protected trust for Lucy, Daniel's young daughter, to support her future education and life needs.
If you knew Daniel, this one is for you. If you didn't, showing up still means something. Lodi takes care of its own, and this is that in real life.

Bloom Fest at Lodi Lake | Sunday, April 19 | 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
The Lodi Youth Commission is bringing a free spring morning to the lake and the lineup is solid. Storytime, bouquet making, a nature scavenger hunt, crafts, giveaways, and food trucks on site. Open to all ages, and if you show the flyer at the gate your parking fee gets waived. Put it on the calendar now, it's the kind of Sunday that earns its spot.

The 64th Annual Spring Art Show | Saturday, April 18 & Sunday, April 19 | 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
64 years. That is not a small thing. The Lodi Community Art Center's Spring Art Show is back and this year they're holding it out at Durst Winery and Estates in Acampo, which is a genuinely great backdrop for it. Entry is free both days. Sunday at 3:00 pm is the awards ceremony, right before artists pick up their work, so if you want to catch the full thing, Sunday afternoon is the move. The full list of accepted entries is up on the Lodi Community Art Center's website.

Lodi Beer Fest and State BBQ Championship | Saturday, April 25 | All Day
Marking this one early because it always fills up. Craft beer, a serious BBQ competition, and a crowd that comes ready for a full day. Tickets are available on the grape festivals website.

Lodi Street Faire | Sunday, May 3 | 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Fourteen blocks of downtown taken over by 400+ vendors, antiques, handmade goods, art, boutique finds, ideally you can find the kind of stuff you can't find at a regular store. The food alone is worth the trip. Burgers, tri-tip, Mexican food, Filipino food, sweets, cold drinks and I enjoy walking around eating the whole time. Parking garage fills up quick so if you park father away I recommend it. Free to get in, rain or shine. Full vendor lineup over at the Lodi Chamber of Commerce website.

Trail Coffee
A business I’m excited to spotlight this week is Trail Coffee on School Street! In my opinion, they have the best coffee in Lodi; with homemade syrups that never taste artificial or overly sweet. If you haven’t tried a rose cardamom latte or a honey latte yet, definitely add those to your list on your next visit. You can thank me later.

And if you haven’t been in recently, you might not know that Trail has expanded their seating area! Head outside toward Lockeford Street (where the piano is) and you’ll spot another door that’s part of Trail as well. It’s a beautiful addition, and honestly, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
So many of us are working from home now, juggling meetings, and searching for that “third place” — somewhere that isn’t home and isn’t the office, but still feels like yours. I’ll be honest, I was personally bummed when the Starbucks on Ham Lane swapped out their big, work-friendly tables for small round ones to speed up customer turnover. Trail is the opposite of that. They’re not trying to rush you out the door. They’re about quality and community, which is exactly why this place has such a special spot in my heart.
The staff are genuinely wonderful people, and the atmosphere reflects that. Whether you’re settling in with a book, catching up with a friend, getting through some schoolwork, or just need a quiet corner to focus — you’re welcome there.
If you’re looking to host a meeting or reserve the space, reach out to Nick directly at [email protected]. Otherwise, the space is yours to enjoy freely.
Go give Trail some love — and tell them the newsletter sent you! ☕️
